* Candidates must be full time undergraduates in 200 level/2nd year in public Universities, Colleges of Education or Polytechnics in Nigeria.
* Applicants from Universities and Colleges of Education must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) score of 3.5 or its equivalent (2:1), while applicants from Polytechnics must have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 (upper credit) and evidence of admission for the HND or Direct Entry Program.
* Current Beneficiaries of other Scholarship award(s) are not eligible to apply
* The MTN Foundation reserves the right to cancel or suspend a scholarship award if it is discovered that the awardee provided false information.
* Closing date for receipt of applications is November 17, 2011.

WHO CAN APPLY?
There are two categories within the scholarship - the National Merit Award (NM) and the Areas of Operation Merit Award, East or West (OE or OW).
1. National Merit Award (NM)
The National Merit Award (NM) University Scholarship is open to all Nigerian first year degree students in Nigerian universities who are NOT indigenes of SPDC’s operational areas (in Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Imo, and Rivers States). 2011/2012 PTDF Scholarship Scheme

2011/2012 PTDF SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME In pursuit of its mandate the PTDF is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for its MSc and PhD Scholarships as well as Undergraduate, under the PTDF scholarship scheme. Scholarships will be awarded for studies in areas listed below, in the United Kingdom and upgraded Universities in Nigeria for the 2011/2012 session. However, the undergraduate level will be awarded for studies in Nigeria only.
Application forms can be accessed online using an ATM card or through purchase of a scratch card from designated major branches of First Bank of Nigeria Plc and Skye Bank Plc in all state capitals and FCT, upon the payment of a NON-REFUNDABLE sum of N1,000 (One Thousand Naira Only). Instructions on how to access the form online is clearly stated on the backside of the cards.
PTDF however wishes to inform all its esteemed applicants that its Overseas Scholarship Scheme was instituted as a short term measure to address identified skills gaps, pending the outcome of the various capacity building efforts being made to enable our domestic universities effectively handle the onerous task of grooming qualitative professionals in the oil and gas related disciplines. The MTN Nigeria Foundation will provide financial support to eligible Science & Technology students in accredited educational public universities, polytechnics and colleges of education across the six geo-political zones in Nigeria which will cover tuition, book allowance and stipend (pocket allowance).

The Entry Form has been hosted on the bank’s website for intending participants to download free and also in paper format available in all branches of the bank where prospective candidates could pick them. Completed Entries are to be returned to the branches from where they will be moved to the Head Office through the 10 regional offices. At the end of the competition, the overall 50 winners would be recognized as 50th Anniversary STARS and every STAR shall be rewarded with a prize. Photocopy of JAMB or University Admission Letter;
Photocopy of University Matriculation Examinations (UME) Scores;
Photocopy of SSCE, GCE ‘O’ Level Result; and ‘A’ Level or OND Result as applicable;
Two recent passport-sized photographs of the applicant should be stapled to the top right hand corner of application (with Name, School & Course written on the back);
Letter of Identification from State (showing Local Government) of Origin; and
For applicants for the Operational Area Award, Letters of Identification duly stamped and signed by:
(a) The Paramount Ruler of the Community; and
(b) The Chairman of the Community Executive Council (CEC) or
The Chairman of the Community Development Council (CDC).
