NWAG Nigeria Scholarship for Women 2011

The Nigerian Women Association of Georgia (NWAG) announced 37 one-time scholarships, one per state of origin as well as one for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), in the amount of fifty thousand Naira each, to Nigerian female, undergraduate students in Nigerian universities.

Requirements:

An applicant must be a Nigerian female, undergraduate student in a Nigerian University All applications must include the following:

- State of origin certificate . Two letters of recommendation from two of the following community leaders: Church Pastor or Mosque Imam, Dean of your Faculty/School, and Department Head
-1 Letter of recommendation from one of the following: Village Head, Local Government Chairperson.
- Photocopy of your current university student identification card
- A current photograph of yourself
- An explanation of why you need and should receive the scholarship-(not more than one-half typed page).

The applicant will have to write an Essay .A type-written, double –spaced, two-page essay on: “If you represent women/children/ youth special interest group, what issues/causes would you advocate for the government to make a priority in its legislation and why?”

a) GENERAL ELIGIBILITY

Must be a Nigerian
Must be a registered, full time 100 level undergraduate in any Nigerian Tertiary Institution
Must have 5 ‘O’ level credit passes in one sitting including English Language and Mathematics

Rivers State Special Overseas Undergraduate Scholarship Programme 2011-2012

The Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency [RSSDA] invites applications from suitably qualified candidates of Rivers State origin for selection in the State Government’s Special Overseas Undergraduate Scholarship Programme for 2011/2012 session.



Courses Available:

* Engineering (Including Agric. Engr.)
* Medical Sciences
* Social Sciences (Excluding Law)
* Natural Sciences
* Computer related studies.



Who Should Apply:

* Must be of Rivers State origin.
* Not above 21 years of age (Confirmation of age preferably by birth certificate).
* A minimum of five (5) WASCE credits relevant to intended course of study (not NECO).
* The five credits must include Mathematics and English Language, with at least A OR B in the relevant subjects for intended course of study.
* Must not be on a degree awarding programme or its equivalent.
* Must submit a copy of LGA identification letter.

2011/2012 PTDF Scholarship Scheme

2011/2012 PTDF SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME In pursuit of its mandate the PTDF is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for its MSc and PhD Scholarships as well as Undergraduate, under the PTDF scholarship scheme. Scholarships will be awarded for studies in areas listed below, in the United Kingdom and upgraded Universities in Nigeria for the 2011/2012 session. However, the undergraduate level will be awarded for studies in Nigeria only.



Application forms can be accessed online using an ATM card or through purchase of a scratch card from designated major branches of First Bank of Nigeria Plc and Skye Bank Plc in all state capitals and FCT, upon the payment of a NON-REFUNDABLE sum of N1,000 (One Thousand Naira Only). Instructions on how to access the form online is clearly stated on the backside of the cards.



PTDF however wishes to inform all its esteemed applicants that its Overseas Scholarship Scheme was instituted as a short term measure to address identified skills gaps, pending the outcome of the various capacity building efforts being made to enable our domestic universities effectively handle the onerous task of grooming qualitative professionals in the oil and gas related disciplines. With the numerous upgrade programmes executed by the Fund in some Federal Universities in Nigeria, the Fund intends to shift emphasis to training Nigerians in-country from next session. A. UNDER GRADUATE (Nigeria Only)

* Must have concluded the 1st year of their study in any of the PTDF upgraded Federal Universities listed above.
* Must have scored a minimum CGPA of 3.0 on scale of 5 or 4.5 on a scale of 7 in their 1st Year.
* Must scan and attach a copy of their admission letter
* Students admitted into the University through Direct Entry i.e. 200 level must have either of the following:

1. Minimum f Upper Credit at the Diploma level
2. Minimum of 10 points in interim Joint Matriculation Board (I.J.M.B) examination.
3. Minimum of 8 points at the Advanced Level General Certificate of Education (G.C.E).



B. MSc (Nigeria and Overseas)

* A minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) in an Oil and Gas related field OR a 2.2 with oil and gas industry experience
* National Youth Service (NYSC) certificate
* Applicants must be computer literate
* Possession of O/level or credit in English language in WAEC,GCE and SSCE and
* Applicants must not be above 35 years of ageApplicants without credit in English language as in (4) above but possess any of the following may apply

1. Test of English language as a foreign language (TOEFL)

3. GMAT –for Management related courses

MTN Nigeria Foundation Scholarship 2010/2011

The MTN Nigeria Foundation will provide financial support to eligible Science & Technology students in accredited educational public universities, polytechnics and colleges of education across the six geo-political zones in Nigeria which will cover tuition, book allowance and stipend (pocket allowance).

The scholarship award is worth N200, 000.00 (Two hundred thousand Naira only) per student for the duration of an academic year and is paid at the beginning of each academic session.

The scholarship maybe renewable provided recipients maintain a minimum CGPA of 3.5 or its equivalent (second class upper/upper credit).

ELIGIBILTY

* Candidates must be full time undergraduates in 200 level/2nd year in public universities, colleges of education as well as polytechnics in Nigeria.

2010/2011 Total E & P National Merit Undergraduate Scholarship

Total (E&P) Nigeria Limited hereby invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for its 2010/2011 National Merit Scholarship Awards for undergraduate students currently in their 1st and 2nd year of studies in recognized Nigeria Universities.

WHO IS QUALIFIED TO APPLY

The NNPC/TEPNG Merit Scholarship Award is open to all matriculated Nigerian full-time degree students in their first/second year of studies in Nigeria Universities and who are NOT beneficiaries of any other scholarships. In addition to the above condition, applicants must show:
* Proof of SSCE or equivalent certificate,
* Proof of UME scores and admission to the course of study

Intercontinental Bank National Essay Competition For University Students

Intercontinental bank is currently organizing an essay contest tagged: ‘Nigeria: A Nation at 50, The Past, the Future.’ Below is an excerpt from Intercontinetal Bank's website page for the competition.

The Entry Form has been hosted on the bank’s website for intending participants to download free and also in paper format available in all branches of the bank where prospective candidates could pick them. Completed Entries are to be returned to the branches from where they will be moved to the Head Office through the 10 regional offices. Other details about the competition are available in the Press adverts and radio jingles. At the end of the competition, the overall 50 winners would be recognized as 50th Anniversary STARS and every STAR shall be rewarded with a prize. The overall best essay writer will be rewarded with an educational grant of N500,000, cash prize of N500,000 and one HP mini laptop; the second best will get N300,000 educational grant, N300,000 cash prize and one mini laptop; the third best will get N200,000 educational grant, N200,000 cash prize and a mini laptop while the 4th-50th winners will get one mini laptop each.
The 50 Stars will be unveiled to the world in a ceremony in Lagos.
